Your Claude prompt

Copy this and paste it into Claude. It knows every character limit so you don't have to.

Fill in the form to generate your prompt.

How it works: fill in the form → copy the prompt → paste into Claude → get perfect copy back. Then paste Claude's output into App Store Connect and Google Play Console.

Create your developer accounts

Written from a real sign-up as an individual, living in Switzerland (October 2026). Each step is marked: Official = from Apple or Google, Tested = it happened to us, Reported = from other developers, not confirmed.

Apple Developer Program

Individual · $99 a year (CHF 109 on a Swiss account, €98.99 on a German one)

  1. Official Before you start: your Apple Account name must be your exact legal name, two-factor authentication must be on, and you need your own credit card (otherwise Apple asks for a photo ID and it takes longer).
  2. Tested Enrol on the web at developer.apple.com/programs/enroll. It worked first time, fast and easy. The Developer app on Mac failed for us (see below).
  3. Tested The price follows the country of your Apple Account: €98.99 on a German account, CHF 109 on a Swiss one. Use the account of the country you actually live in.
  4. Tested Error “Unable to Verify Your Identity” in the app (it offered only a driver’s licence, both sides)? Switch from Wi-Fi to a phone hotspot and try again. That fixed it; using the iPhone camera did not.
  5. Tested Card form in the Mac app: only the card-number field was editable and the rest stayed grey. Switching to the web flow avoided it.
  6. Official Pay and accept the licence agreement. You get an order email straight away. That is not the activation: wait for Apple’s welcome email (up to 24–48 hours). If nothing arrives, contact Apple Developer Support.

Google Play Console

Personal account · $25 one-time

  1. Official Before you start: use the Google Account you want to own the developer account for good. Have a Visa or Mastercard (no prepaid cards) and your ID, both in your legal name.
  2. Tested Start at play.google.com/console/signup. It sends you to turn on 2-Step Verification (2FA) first. Do that, then return to the sign-up.
  3. Tested Choose Personal (not Organisation), then a public developer name (it appears on your store pages, so pick one you will keep) and link a payments profile.
  4. Tested The questions about how many apps you will publish and how you plan to earn money (ads, paid app…) are only a survey. Answer honestly; free is fine.
  5. Tested Pay the one-time $25. The account is created, but identity verification starts now: Google checks your ID. Until it is done you can prepare your listing but not publish.
  6. Reported Verification is said to take 2–5 business days.
  7. Official Install the Google Play Console app on an Android phone, sign in and confirm your device. New personal accounts must do this before publishing.
  8. Reported Plan ahead: personal accounts created after 13 November 2023 need a closed test with at least 12 real testers opted in for 14 days in a row before production. The 14 days start only once Google has approved the test release, so recruit testers early.

After approval: get your first app live

These steps come from Apple’s and Google’s own documentation. We will mark them as tested once we have been through them.

Apple: App Store Connect

Roles needed: Account Holder, Admin or App Manager

  1. The Account Holder must first sign the latest agreements in App Store Connect. Until then you cannot add an app.
  2. Register your bundle ID (the unique identifier of your app). It has to exist before you can create the app record.
  3. In App Store Connect choose Apps, then the + button, then New App. Fill in platform, app name, primary language, bundle ID, SKU (any unique internal code) and user access. The app starts as “Prepare for Submission”.
  4. Upload a build with Xcode (recommended) or the Transporter app. Apple matches it to your app by bundle ID, version and build number, processes it, and emails you when it is ready.
  5. Once processed you can test it with TestFlight or go straight to filling in the listing and submitting for App Review.

Google: Play Console

Personal accounts need a closed test first

  1. Home, then Create app. Choose default language and app name, app or game, free or paid, and a contact email. Accept the Developer Program Policies, the US export laws declaration and the Play App Signing terms.
  2. Follow the dashboard tasks: content details, store listing and pre-release testing. The listing limits are: app name 30 characters, short description 80, full description 4000.
  3. Run a closed test with at least 12 testers opted in continuously for 14 days. Testers who opt in and leave before 14 days do not count.
  4. Then apply for production access in the Dashboard: describe your closed test, your audience and what you changed from the feedback. Review usually takes seven days or less.
